Always Do a Diligent Job

On this day I took the microphone to facilitate a session on SDGs with the executive permanent secretaries of the Niger State Government on a project, Solution 17 for Niger State.

I was the second speaker on this day and while my colleague was engaging with them I knew we are with set of executives who have good knowledge about the SDGs, ask me why won't they? they are permanent secretaries to the government from different ministries, privilege to lot of information and capacity building.

Thankfully I was able to figure out during the first presentation what I must do, when I stood to make my presentation, first, I had to abandoned the slide since I heard figured out they are way beyond what is in the slide.

My presentation went on to become a conversation, I tried to get them talking about the problems why the implementation of the SDGs was not working in the state.

Secondly, I transitioned into sharing from past experience working with stakeholders, communities, government policies makers and international organization and connect it with similar problem identified in the state.

As the engagement continued while I was telling a story of a project embarked upon in the past, in order to point out something important about the state, they become more alive and came out to share more reasons they have failed in their implementation and we both work out measures and action plan for next step.

Remember it is not all the time you will have it the way you plan, when the time to stand and deliver goes wrong, what are you going to do differently?

You must be able to go back to your experience and connect all the dots, do not assume you know it all. In every role you found yourself, always do a diligent job, because it always count.

This particular day turned out to be a further learning experience for me about the social problems in our society.
